Alec Baldwin Wins Lead Actor Emmy; Tina Fey Not The Best Actress

Last year, “30 Rock” principals Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey dominated the Emmy Awards; the two won the Lead Acting Awards for comedy series as their show continued owning the comedy portion of the Emmy telecast.

This year, however, only one was able to repeat. It was Alec Baldwin. The veteran actor picked up a second award for his turn as Jack Donaghy, beating out Steve Carell (“The Office”), Tony Shaloub (“Monk”), Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”), Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”) and Charlie Sheen (“Two and a Half Men”).

The Lead Actress in a Comedy Emmy instead went to Toni Collette (“United States of Tara”). Fey, Christina Applegate (“Samantha Who”), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“The New Adventures of Old Christine”), Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds”) and Sarah Silverman (“The Sarah Silverman Program”) were also nominated.

To her credit, Fey did pick up the Guest Actress Creative Awards Emmy for her work on “SNL.”

— Also awarded: Best Direction went to “The Office”‘s Jeff Blitz.
