Kurt Angle’s attorney Michael Santicola told WPXI that his client is “completely innocent” of charges stemming from his arrest Saturday.
According to Santicola, there is “no corroborating evidence to prove [that Rhaka Khan] needed a protection from abuse order.” Rather, the Angle perspective is that the Olympic Gold Medalist wanted to end the relationship, while Rhaka Khan “wanted to continue to involve herself in his life.”
He adds that there was no way Angle could have known the TNA Knockout was at Starbucks when he drove within the vicinity of the coffee shop.
Of the charge related to Angle’s HGH possession, Santicola said, “I have spoken with his agent, it is under prescription, multiple people use it in his industry and it is not illegal.”
And, on the count of driving with a suspended license, Santicola says the issue stems from a past DUI charge–for which Angle was acquitted–and that he believes the charge “will be dropped once the paperwork is worked out.”
At press time, Santicola was confident that Angle’s preliminary hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, would be delayed. The attorney noted that Angle would be out of town (for this week’s iMPACT tapings). Angle is, meanwhile, still scheduled for an Ultimate Teen Challenge event next weekend.
TNA Champion Kurt Angle was arrested Saturday after being accused of violating a protection from abuse order he had been served by girlfriend Rhaka Khan. She alleged that he was stalking her in the parking lot of a Robinson Township shopping center while in possession of her cell phone. After being questioned, Angle was arrested and also charged with possessing the HGH and driving with a suspended license.
