The Divas have been a fixture of WWE programming for many years, but a new report says WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is presently unhappy with the state of the division.
Though specifics behind McMahon’s newfound opinion were not available at press time, there has definitely been increased internal criticism about the quality of WWE’s recent women’s matches. TheSun.co.uk, which first reported the news, speculates that the “sloppy” Divas matches on television have contributed to McMahon’s disapproval of the state of the division.
Despite having a historically large roster of female performers, almost all of whom do wrestle when necessary, WWE has not featured too many women’s matches on recent pay-per-view telecasts. WWE’s website has actively been pushing frequently-updated photos of the Divas as a selling point, but the aesthetic popularity has neither resulted in demand for more female matches on pay-per-view events nor convinced Vince McMahon that the division is not presently struggling.
