Hootie & The Blowfish’s “Cracked Rear View” Reaches 21X Platinum In United States

The classic album crosses the double diamond threshold — and then some.

The classic 1997 album that contains equally classic songs like “Hold My Hand,” “Only Wanna Be With You,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Time” just attained double-diamond status — and more — in the United States.

According to the RIAA, Hootie & The Blowfish’s “Cracked Rear View” officially reached 21x platinum status (or 2.1x diamond status) on May 21, 2018.

The award confirms 21 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales or 1500 track streams.

As “Cracked Rear View” pre-dates the digital era, the majority of its units come from pure album sales.

“Cracked Rear View” is one of only ten albums to boast double-diamond (or better) status in the United States.
