The Voice Wins Head-to-Head Ratings Battle with American Idol

Wednesday’s “The Voice” results show was far from a ratings juggernaut–and performed at levels far below the Monday and Tuesday performance shows–but it managed to accomplish one impressive feat: beating “American Idol” head-to-head.

NBC’s results show averaged a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating from 8-9PM, besting the 2.5 for “American Idol.” “Idol,” however, won in total viewers, leading “The Voice”‘s 8.73 million with its own 9.50 million.

FOX is not without a valid claim of its own victory, however. Because “Idol” drew a 3.2 from 9-10PM, its overall adults 18-49 rating (2.8) slightly edged that of “The Voice,” which only aired during the night’s first hour.
