“Game of Thrones” Hits Ratings High with Third Season Premiere

Even against significant competition from the season finale of “The Walking Dead,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones” opened its third season on a high-note.

Early reports say the season opener attracted 4.4 million viewers, which marks an increase over the 3.9 million for its season two premiere and 4.2 million for the season two finale.

Across all three evening telecasts, “Thrones” averaged 6.7 million viewers, also a series high.
