ESPN’s report that Kidd was nearing a renewal with the Dallas Mavericks proved premature, as the veteran point guard has instead decided to sign a multi-year contract with the New York Knicks.

Specifics on Kidd’s contract with the Knicks were unavailable at press time, but save for another shocking twist, it appears he is planning to end his well-regarded NBA run in Madison Square Garden.

With Kidd out of the question, the Dallas Mavericks will look at options like Aaron Brooks, Randy Foye and Ramon Sessions.
