Speculation Emerges Over R-Truth’s WWE Suspension, Wellness Violation

For something utterly lacking definitive confirmation, the recently-announced R-Truth suspension is making a lot of waves in wrestling circles.

The cause? Speculation that R-Truth might have violated the wellness policy weeks ago and had his suspension delayed until after the heavily-hyped Survivor Series main-event.

The problem with treating such a theory as being remotely within the realm of factual is that the notion hinges on so many unconfirmed assumptions about WWE’s recent wellness suspensions.

The issue dates back to a few weeks ago, when WWE announced that Tag Team Champion Evan Bourne was suspended. At the time, the rumor was that it was due to using the synthetic marijuana alternative spice, which it is believed has become a drug of choice for wrestlers who do not wish to pay the hefty $2500 “marijuana tax.”

Although WWE never confirmed why Bourne was suspended, media ran with the story as if it was fact, and one report even alleged that another, higher-level talent was seen using the product in the same setting as Bourne but somehow managed to avoid suspension.

Gossip, therefore, is now claiming that R-Truth was that other talent. And if he was caught using at the same time as Bourne, the feeling is that he should have been suspended at the same time as Bourne.

Given that belief, the fact that he was allowed to work Survivor Series and collect a main-event paycheck is rubbing some the wrong way.

Further support comes from the fact that no sources have been able to definitively confirm a round of drug testing took place in the past week or two, which, if it indeed happened, would provide an explanation for why R-Truth suddenly tested positive.

But, at the same time, without 100% of the facts on why Bourne was suspended, it certainly requires a leap of logic to just assume R-Truth failed for the same thing at the same time. What if it turns out Evan Bourne was suspended for something else? What if Bourne was suspended for Spice but was not using it with R-Truth?

So many questions can undermine the validity of current rumors.
