“Walking Dead” Sets Cable Ratings Record

“The Walking Dead” might be the least-acclaimed of AMC’s dramas go, but as far as ratings are concerned, it continues to be in another league.

“Dead” premiered its second season Sunday to a whopping 3.8 adults 18-49 rating and 7.3 million viewers. Such metrics set the record for a drama telecast on basic cable and look to have given the show a ratings victory over any non-football airing, whether on broadcast or cable, Sunday night.

When including encore telecasts, AMC says “The Walking Dead” attracted a total of 11 million viewers for premiere night.
