CM Punk Issues Apology for Ranting at WWE Fans

WWE Superstar CM Punk issued a Twitter apology for a weekend ringside rant that included derogatory use of the word “homo.”

With WWE’s anti-bullying campaign in full swing, Punk nonetheless accused two male hecklers of having a “vagina” in a ringside rant at a house show in Australia. He added that one of the fans, who had a faux hawk, was a “homo.”

TMZ featured video of the incident, prompting WWE and Punk to apologize.

The wrestler Tweeted, “I’m glad TMZ posted that video because everybody needs to be held accountable for their bullshit, me included. What I said was bullshit. I’m embarrassed. I own up to being a total douche in this situation and I offer a sincere apology to anybody I hurt with careless words.”

Interestingly, the apology is his first Tweet since a storyline note, “I’m in full, “what are they going to do, fire me?” mode.”
