WWE Reveals Storyline Update on CM Punk, Inside News on His Future

WWE issued a statement Tuesday confirming that CM Punk will resume working house shows even though he was suspended in storyline following Monday’s promo.

“As of Tuesday, June 28, WWE and CM Punk have reached an agreement that Punk will fulfill his non-televised live event obligations for the remainder of his contract, through July 17. Furthermore, both sides have mutually agreed not to disparage one another,” confirmed WWE.com Tuesday evening.

CM Punk’s suspension was the focal point of the RAW taping for next week, with WWE building the show around whether or not he would be allowed to wrestle for the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank. For full spoilers, head here.

As a legitimate, backstage update on CM Punk, many are now of the impression he will continue with WWE after the July 17 date. That is not a confirmation that he re-signed nor is it a guarantee that he will not embark on a hiatus immediately after that date passes, but the feeling is that WWE would not have run the high-profile angle if it was not banking on Punk having a long-term future with the company.

F4WOnline.com additionally cited sources who expect CM Punk will work with WWE after the 7/17 date but cannot rule out a hiatus in the short-term.
