“American Idol” finalist James Durbin, who many view as a strong candidate to advance to the top five, celebrated his WWE fandom in an interview with MTV News.
“I’m James Durbin, and I’m awesome,” the singer cracked as an homage to The Miz, one of his favorite WWE wrestlers. MTV was happy to jump on his use of The Miz’s catchphrase, given the wrestler’s past on the cable network’s “Real World” reality show.
He also put over The Rock’s return to the ring, noting, “That was probably the best move [WWE] could possibly do. I’m sick of John Cena.”
He noted that he enjoyed Cena’s earlier stint as a heel, but that “we need something new” to break the monotony of Cena as the top babyface.
