“Off the Map” Ratings Fall With Weaker “Cougar Town” Lead-In

Although the drop-off has been slower than that of numerous struggling new drama series, ABC’s “Off the Map” is starting to dip into dangerous territory.

After holding reasonably steady in the adults 18-49 demo last week, the show dropped another 14% to a 1.8 rating Thursday. With just 5.09 million viewers, the show, though stronger than failed timeslot series “The Whole Truth,” is looking like a bust.

Of course, the series certainly would have valued more support; lead-in “Cougar Town” dipped to a season low in the 9:30PM slot. Since ABC aired a “Modern Family” re-run, the Courteney Cox-starrer did not benefit from the monster comedy lead-in and dipped to a 2.1 with 5.08 million viewers.

Most notable about the poor performance for “Cougar Town,” which has already been renewed for a third season, is the fact that the “Modern Family” re-run over-performed with a 2.6 rating. That meant that “Cougar Town,” expected to be “on its own” this week, actually received a respectable comedy lead-in en route to its troubling 2.1 rating.

its a very fresh take on doctors….and how the coop up wth there environment…

  2. I think Off The Map is a GREAT ! I admit that I was not going to give it a shot, but the when they played it again on that Thurs. night, I watched and it got me wanting to watch more. I think that it gets even more interesting as the past 2 shows have aired following the premiere& now I have a great new show on Wednesday night to watch. I hope it doesn’t get pulled off the air!!! The characters are very interesting and so what if it’s “kind of” like Grey’s Anatomy…it’s very far from your typical hospital drama (Dr. Bailey’s old boyfriend is cast on the show) I am drawn to the characters and I think if anyone is looking for something new to watch, to give it a shot. I hope that ABC keeps this show going. I know that there are a lot of people out there that will be disappointed if it gets shelved.

  3. PLEASE DON’T SHUT “OFF THE MAP” DOWN. AT LEAST 3-4 SEASONS. BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, IN THE JUNGLE, GOOD ACTING, & SURPRISING SITUATIONS THAT HAVE ME ON EDGE AT TIMES!!!! I LOVE IT
