WWE NXT Announcer Update, Spoiler on Big WWE Return, Hell in a Cell

It took less than one week for Michael Cole to return to the NXT commentary booth.

Michael Cole’s scripted resignation on last week’s edition of NXT vacated his play-by-play seat for CM Punk, who took over announcing duties at the start of Tuesday’s NXT episode. Though viewed as one of WWE’s most entertaining talkers, Punk was surprisingly quiet for much of the episode, with Josh Matthews even referencing Punk’s lethargy at one point.

Late in the episode, Cole announced that he would be back by popular demand. Punk stayed on commentary, however, and suddenly got going (his resurgence included a highlight remark about watching the Diva version of NXT with his pants off each week)–the three-man team received high marks from wrestling critics and message board visitors. Cole and Matthews are set to remain on board as the announcers, although Punk did promise to join them next week.

— The following note contains a spoiler for SmackDown! and Hell in a Cell:

Undertaker vs. Kane was confirmed for a Hell in a Cell match at WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view. A segment building the match was highlighted by the return of Paul Bearer, who seemed to align with Undertaker.
