Latest on Chris Jericho’s WWE Status, Future on WWE RAW (Updated)

A PWInsider.com report that Night of Champions was to mark Chris Jericho’s final WWE appearance proved incorrect–the veteran wrestler worked Monday’s double RAW taping.

The first of the filmed episodes, which aired as Monday’s telecast, saw Jericho come out on the losing end of a match with John Morrison. In a backstage interview, he later declared his quest to expose the identity of RAW’s general manager.

During that segment, Randy Orton confronted Jericho and challenged him to a match on next week’s show. If Jericho wins, he gets a shot at Randy Orton’s WWE Championship. That match will be filmed in the second portion of tonight’s RAW taping.

Given talk that Jericho’s contract with WWE had expired, the possibility of an imminent exit for Chris Jericho remained on the table. As a spoiler for next week’s RAW, it turns out that Randy Orton delivered his infamous “punt” to Jericho, spurring speculation that Jericho will at least be embarking on a hiatus following next week’s show.
