Bad News For Chris Jericho’s ABC Series “Downfall”

In news that looks bleak for the future of “Downfall” on ABC, the network has decided to prematurely wrap the Chris Jericho-hosted show’s initial run next week.

Although it originally ordered six episodes of the game show, ABC issued a press release billing next week’s episode–the fifth–as the season finale. The second half of a two-hour “Wipeout” will occupy ABC’s 9PM timeslot on July 27.

The news comes as no surprise; in addition to receiving tepid reviews from critics, “Downfall” has also struggled to find an audience, losing an excessive portion of its “Wipeout” lead-in each week.

Given the fact that ABC is not even airing the first season in its entirety, it seems extremely unlikely that the network will order additional episodes.
