LeBron James Announces Move to Miami Heat in ESPN Special

In an ESPN special built around his “decision” about where to sign and end his free agency, LeBron James announced Thursday his intentions to join the Miami Heat.

Always reported as being in contention, along with teams including James’ previous home of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets, the Heat sealed the deal by scoring commitments from fellow commodities Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

“I can’t say it was always in my plans, because I never thought it was possible,” said James on the special. “But the things that the Miami Heat franchise have done, to free up cap space and be able to put themselves in a position this summer to have all three of us, it was hard to turn down. Those are two great players, two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.”
