Original Plans For WWE Over the Limit Matches, Mysterio Update

Four wrestlers were unfortunately injured during Sunday’s WWE Over the Limit pay-per-view, and it is thus no surprise that some of the match finishes were changed from what was originally booked.

Notable changes included WWE rushing a double count-out when the extent of Orton’s shoulder injury became clear; the original plan was reportedly for Orton to win in a longer, more dramatic bout. Elsewhere, WWE called an audible after Ted DiBiase suffered a concussion in his match with R-Truth; the original plan was for DiBiase to blame Virgil for his loss and then lay him out with Dream Street. WWE instead decided to hold off on that match conclusion, and Virgil, in fact, was booked to appear on the next night’s RAW (in the skit with Jon Lovitz, DiBiase and Santino).

— Although rumors of Mysterio needing knee surgery have been going around for months, the wrestler has reportedly been telling those close to him that his knee is fine. He is set to take a few weeks off, but the hiatus will simply be for vacation; it is not expected to represent a chance for him to get surgery.
