“Parenthood” Ratings Surge, “Lost” Drops to Low

NBC officials are most certainly smiling Wednesday, as the rating for Tuesday’s “Parenthood,” which was just renewed for a second season, climbed to its highest figure since the series premiere.

Building off a 3.3 lead-in from “The Biggest Loser” (with a 3.9 in the final half-hour), “Parenthood” posted a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating with 7.22 million viewers.

Though the show undoubtedly benefitted this week from a repeat of CBS’ 10PM occupant “The Good Wife” (and, unlike last week, no additional competition from FOX’s “Glee”), its rating is a positive sign that the critically-adored show is becoming a stable player for the network.

Elsewhere, “Lost” dropped to a low 3.6 rating with 9.35 million viewers. With two minutes of overrun into “V” at 10PM (5.95 million, 2.3), it might uptick slightly for the final data, but it still represents a disappointment as the series enters its month of broadcasts.
