— After a period of speculation, it became official Wednesday–Alex O’Loughlin has been booked to play Detective Steve McGarrett in the pilot for CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” remake, reports THR.
“Hawaii” marks O’Loughlin’s third consecutive pilot at CBS. His previous series “Moonlight” and “Three Rivers” both went to series but failed to move beyond an additional season. CBS is nonetheless high on the actor, hoping he will soon break out the way Simon Baker did on “The Mentalist.”
“Lost” regular Daniel Dae Kim had previously been cast in the remake.
— EW reports that David Krumholz (“Numb3rs”) has been cast in the lead of Ron Howard’s untitled IRS comedy at FOX. Though in second position to his role on “Numb3rs,” most do not believe it will matter, as the CBS drama is not expected to return.
The pilot would be for a multi-camera comedy set at an IRS office.
This is the best news ever!! Alex will rock this role!!
All I have to say is Wooooooooo Hooooooooo!Alex will be awesome in this role!
I cannot wait for more Alex! I hope CBS does right by him this time and that this is a huge hit!
I LOVE David Krumholz…and I’d love to see him in a lighter role. If Ron Howard’s producing it, it should be good. I’m happy for Alex O’Loughlin, too. He’s a heck of a good actor–I’m hoping that the excellent writers who are involved with Hawaii Five-O will give him plenty of opportunity to shine. I’m encouraged that Daniel Dae Kim will be in the cast, too.
