NFC Champions Bump WWE From New Orleans, Backstage Word

Last year it was the NBA, now it is the NFL–WWE has been forced to relocate a television taping due to yet another local sports team’s interests.

WWE confirmed on its website Monday that the February 9 SmackDown/ECW taping, originally scheduled for New Orleans, has been postponed due a scheduled New Orleans Saints Super Bowl parade.

“The city of New Orleans will be hosting a parade to honor the New Orleans Saints football team on Tuesday, Feb. 9, whether the team wins or loses the Super Bowl,” reads the statement.

WWE will relocate Tuesday’s taping to the Baton Rouge River Center; tickets for the New Orleans show will be honored at a rescheduled event on May 28, 2010.

— As a note on this taping, F4WOnline.com reported recently that WWE was preparing a big CM Punk heel promo to coincide with the Saints’ appearance in next weekend’s Super Bowl.
