Interesting Backstage WWE Story, Backstage TNA Outburst

While specific details on the TNA iMPACT and WWE SmackDown! tapings discussed in the aforementioned tidbits are withheld, this story should still be treated as containing spoilers.

— PWInsider reports that Kevin Nash was responsible for a backstage outburst at Wednesday’s TNA iMPACT! taping. In a tag bout taped for the show, Chris Sabin suffered what initially appeared to be a serious injury (new reports say that Sabin is presently in good condition), and Nash was not happy about how it was handled.

Nash was reportedly screaming about the fact that production on the match was not halted to address Sabin’s condition backstage; he later cut what sources say was a shoot, unscripted promo in the ring about the decision to continue on with the match. TNA management’s reaction to the situation was not clear at press time.

— In an interesting backstage story, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the original plan for Tuesday’s SmackDown! called for Shad Gaspard to get pinned cleanly in the big tag match on the show. Shad, who wrestlers say was fine when he arrived at the show, said that he was sick (possibly with the flu) and left the taping to return to his hotel room. The match, as those who read the spoilers know, was rewritten with a different finish and without Shad.

While there has obviously been some skepticism about the situation given the fact that Shad’s illness only came up after he learned about plans for the finish, the Observer acknowledges the unlikelihood that a wrestler in Shad’s position would blatantly opt out of a job–WWE midcarders, as a rule, win some and lose some when it comes to match booking.
