Planned WWE Heel Turn, Who Has Power Backstage?, Bragging Rights Plans Change

— To follow-up on a report regarding Drew McIntyre’s push, it is both Triple H and Shawn Michaels who are driving political forces behind his comfortable WWE situation. Both see potential in the wrestler–who many are quick to compare to a young Hunter Hearst Helmsley–and their confidence carries a lot of weight with WWE officials and creative. Observers note that HHH, Michaels, Randy Orton and John Cena have effectively become political gatekeepers backstage; it is quite difficult to earn a meaningful, focused push without support from that group of wrestlers.

Ted DiBiase is an example of a talent who earned the required credibility from those names.

— A full-fledged Batista heel turn has been on the creative docket for quite some time, but his injury frequency has prevented anything from taking off. There have been some subtle indications such a turn might stem from his partnership with Rey Mysterio, although given SmackDown’s lack of active babyface main-eventers, WWE might hold off on the turn in the short-term.

— When WWE first developed the Bragging Rights main event plan (an “ultimate Survivor” match of sorts where the undercard winners competed in a tag match later in the show), the plan was for two qualifying matches on each brand (RAW and SmackDown!). The Miz and John Morrison were to be among the winners.
