Major Rey Mysterio Update, Backstage Heat, Spoiler Plans

WWE held another creative meeting Sunday to discuss the Rey Mysterio suspension issue, which has effectively overshadowed the UFC 102 fallout as the weekend’s biggest story among crossover fans.

According to F4WOnline.com, there was significant heat on Mysterio for his negative interview comments in Mexico’s Record, particularly because the interview was not approved by WWE’s public relations team. The feeling is that while a serious punishment is not necessarily in order, the company cannot simply ignore the rule breach.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon fears that if wrestlers are allowed to give unauthorized interviews, it creates the risk of unhappy talent burying the company publicly.

Regarding the expected IC Title change, McMahon was looking for “creative” ideas for getting the belt off Rey Mysterio, so it is not a lock that the obvious “Dolph Ziggler beats Rey Mysterio” program is what will be booked for SmackDown!

Meanwhile, Mysterio is reportedly still hoping to have the suspension overturned. The Intercontinental Champion claims the drug for which he failed a WWE test is covered by prescription.
