Backstage Update on New WWE Main-Eventers

It was reported in an earlier story that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was on a “talent pushing kick” to help elevate younger stars to the top. Sources say McMahon is not the only WWE lockerroom veteran interested in helping new names reach the top of the WWE ladder.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that some of the SmackDown! lockerroom veterans, including Chris Jericho, Edge and Rey Mysterio, have been working actively with younger stars to produce improvement. Talent like John Morrison, Mike Knox and Dolph Ziggler have been receiving favorable and helpful treatment from the lockerroom’s leaders.

The development is a change in WWE attitude. Instead of adopting the protectionist philosophy by finding ways to suggest the younger talent lacks skills and has not paid its dues, the veteran wrestlers now see the younger stars as opportunities to create more fruitful main-event storylines.
