More Inside News on Ric Flair’s WWE Return

Sources say it is now nearly confirmed that Ric Flair will be coming out of retirement to wrestle, although it remains to be determined if his first match back will be in a WWE ring.

Following his return appearances on Judgment Day and RAW, speculation is high that Flair will be back in the ring in the near future. His WWE storyline has not, however, been definitively scripted towards an actual wrestling match–the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says it is simply being used to bolster RAW’s star power in the absence of Shawn Michaels and Triple H, while simultaneously giving WWE new storyline options for Orton and Batista. Though a match might very well occur, it is not locked in.

Though Flair has not hidden his desire to return to the ring, he reportedly does still seek approval from Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels to return. Flair has also said he will not wrestle in North America if not under the WWE banner, although he is in negotiations with multiple promoters to wrestle at least 30 dates in overseas territories. Flair has told those close to him that the money being offered is too significant to ignore.

With no match specifically outlined in his present WWE plans, Flair is, according to the Observer, presently working without a contract.
