American Idol 8: Elimination Reduces Female Pool to Two

A mere two of the eight remaining contestants are women–“American Idol” waved goodbye to Megan Joy Corkrey this week.

Her “Turn Your Lights Down Low” drew a fiercely negative reaction from the judges Tuesday, and despite her constant smile and quirky antics, America opted not to push her through this week.

Reacting to an earlier comment, in which Megan responded to Simon Cowell’s comments by saying that she “didn’t care” what he had to say, Cowell announced that the judge panel shared her feeling of apathy and had no interest in using their save.

Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta joined Megan in the bottom three.
