In the summer of 2018, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” became the first BLACKPINK single to make the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It peaked at #55, and in the process greatly increased the group’s popularity among US fans.

In the summer of 2019, the breakthrough hit became the first BLACKPINK single to receive a certification from the RIAA.

According to the RIAA, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” reached the gold threshold on August 15, 2019. The award signifies 500,00 in US units, with each unit equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

Not simply the first BLACKPINK song to receive a certification in the US, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the first song by a Korean girl group to score a gold honor from the RIAA.
