Wednesday afternoon, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello confirmed that their new collaboration “Señorita” will arrive this Friday, June 21.
In addition to debuting on digital platforms, the song will be issued to radio for immediate airplay. The first hot adult contemporary radio adds will be reported in conjunction with the June 24 add board. Pickups at the pop radio format will be reported by June 25.
“Señorita” will launch even as Mendes’ previous single “If I Can’t Have You” remains active at both formats. Once unconventional, the approach is seemingly becoming standard practice for Republic. Republic’s radio team recently launched new Ariana Grande, Post Malone and Jonas Brothers singles before the artists’ prior offerings were done rising.
Whether “If I Can’t Have You” will be able to continue rising as “Señorita” picks up airplay remains to be seen.
