Season sixteen marked John Legend’s debut as a coach on “The Voice.” The rookie campaign was successful.

His contestant Maelyn Jarmon was named the competition’s winner during Tuesday’s two-hour finale.

Jarmon’s win was hardly surprising; her performances had consistently garnered considerable acclaim and interest on iTunes.

Team Blake’s Gyth Rigdon was named runner-up. Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener, also of Team Blake, respectively placed third and fourth.

“The Voice” will return for its seventeenth season this fall. Coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine will again sit in the red chairs.
