With “Station 19” airing in the 9PM hour, ABC’s long-running drama “Scandal” moved to 10PM this week.
Airing in a later timeslot with weaker lead-in support, “Scandal” fell to new series lows in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.
According to final national data posted by Showbuzz, Thursday’s “Scandal” drew a mere 0.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. It averaged 3.71 million in overall viewership.
The series low numbers trail the 1.1 rating and 4.74 million viewer mark drawn by the previous installment on March 15.
While “Scandal” has called 9PM home for the past few years, it is no stranger to the 10PM hour. It spent its first three seasons — and emerged as ABC’s flagship drama — in that slot.
— Earlier in the night, ABC offered “Grey’s Anatomy” and the aforementioned “Station 19.”
“Grey’s Anatomy” drew a 1.8 rating and 7.15 million viewers. The numbers trail the 1.9 rating and 7.61 million viewer mark posted by the previous broadcast.
“Station 19” followed with a 1.2 rating and 5.86 million. The numbers actually top the 1.1 rating and 5.43 million viewer mark drawn by last week’s premiere.
Granted, that two-hour premiere faced head-to-head competition from fellow firehouse drama “Chicago Fire” on NBC and NCAA Men’s Basketball on CBS. This week’s episode aired against far more modest competition (“Will & Grace”-“Champions” on NBC / “Mom”-“Life In Pieces” on CBS).
