Powered by strong first-week sales and one of the greatest streaming weeks on record, Drake’s “God’s Plan” earns #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song, which is Drake’s fourth #1 (and second as a lead artist), seizes the throne from Camila Cabello’s “Havana (featuring Young Thug).” That song drops to #3 after a single week on top.
In conjunction with its #1 debut on the Hot 100, “God’s Plan” earns #1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales and Streaming Songs subcharts. Its opening week streaming figure is the fourth-biggest single week total on record.
It is worth noting that the songs with bigger streaming weeks (“Harlem Shake” twice, “Look What You Made Me Do” once) benefited heavily from video streams. “God’s Plan” actually sets the record for on-demand audio streams.
“God’s Plan,” interestingly, is not Drake’s only major debut this week. “Diplomatic Immunity,” which appears alongside “God’s Plan” on the two-track “Scary Hours” release, earns #7 on the Hot 100.
