You’re not imagining a similarity between Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made Me Do” and Right Said Fred’s classic “I’m Too Sexy.”
The likeness is fully documented by the associated artists; Right Said Fred members Richard Fairbrass, Fred Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli are listed as co-writers alongside Swift and frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.
As the song launched, the group formally praised Swift’s single.
“Thank you @taylorswift13 ❤️ what a marvellous reinvention! #imtoosexy #lookwhatyoumademedo,” wrote Right Said Fred on its official Twitter account.
Badge Of Friendship, which handles PR for the group, also shared excitement “So proud of our roster client pals @TheFreds! “I’m too Sexy” got reinvented by @taylorswift13.”
“Look What You Made Me Do,” which launched late Thursday night, reached #1 on the US iTunes sales chart within an hour.
