Update: The final Wednesday ratings report is available, and it brings bad news and good news for “Empire.”

The bad news? “Empire” indeed set series lows in adults 18-49 and overall viewership this week. It drew a 1.9 in the demo and averaged 5.60 million overall viewers. The numbers trail the 2.1 rating and 6.31 million viewer mark drawn by last week’s episode, which at the time was the lowest-rated “Empire” on record.

The good news? The adults 18-49 rating is higher than the 1.8 reported in the preliminary ratings. CBS’ “Survivor” did not receive such an adjustment, which means “Empire” outright ranked as Wednesday’s #1 broadcast network show in adults 18-49.

It thus continues a streak of Wednesday victories that dates back to its series premiere.

— Earlier in the night, FOX’s “Shots Fired” drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 3.10 million viewers. Last week’s episode drew a 0.8 and 3.33 million.
=====

Last week’s “Empire” delivered what then ranked as series lows in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

This week’s “Empire” fell in both columns, thus establishing new series lows.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Empire” posted a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 5.57 million overall viewers.

The series low numbers trail the 2.1 rating and 6.31 million viewer mark posted by last week’s episode.

The decline did not completely strip “Empire” of its Wednesday crown in adults 18-49, but it did mean “Empire” had to share the distinction with “Survivor,” which also drew a 1.8. This was the first time “Empire” didn’t outright rank as Wednesday’s #1 broadcast network program.

(Note: The tie refers to live+same-day ratings; “Empire” will almost certainly pull ahead of “Survivor” with DVR windows included)

“Empire” meanwhile ranked as the night’s #4 show in overall viewership.

— Earlier in the night, FOX aired “Shots Fired” (0.8, 3.12 million this week vs. 0.8, 3.33 million last week).
