Ed Sheeran gives new meaning to the notion of chart dominance on this week’s Official UK Singles chart.
Songs from his new “Divide” album occupy each of the Top 6 slots. He, moreover, holds 14 of the Top 15 positions. The entire 16-track album is in the Top 20.
Co-lead single “Shape Of You” spends a ninth straight week at #1. Album track “Galway Girl” flies in at #2, while co-lead single “Castle On The Hill” holds at #3.
Newly released album tracks “Perfect” (#4), “New Man” (#5), and “Happier” (#6) directly follow, while “Dive” (#8), “Supermarket Flowers” (#9), and “What Do I Know” (#10) also hold Top 10 positions.
Previously released song “How Would You Feel (Paean)” holds at #11.
“Barcelona” (#12), “Nancy Mulligan” (#13), “Eraser” (#14), “Hearts Don’t Break Around Here” (#15), “Bibia Be Ye Ye” (#18) and “Save Myself” (#19) also debut.
The only non-Sheeran songs in the Top 20 are The Chainsmokers & Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This” (#6), Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Human” (#16), Katy Perry’s “Chained To The Rhythm (featuring Skip Marley)” (#17) and Stormzy’s “Big For Your Boots” (#20).
Other notables inside the Top 40:
— Martin Jensen’s “Solo Dance” jumps fourteen spots to #25.
— Lorde’s “Green Light” debuts at #28.
— Little Mix’s “No More Sad Songs” debuts at #39.
