Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (TGIF)” was not the only Capitol Records single to earn a platinum certification on February 10, 2017.
The RIAA also issued such an honor to Niall Horan’s “This Town.”
The certification confirms 1 million in US units; each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.
“This Town,” Horan’s first single as a solo artist, has peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. It currently holds a Top 10 position at hot adult contemporary and peaked inside the Top 15 at pop.
