Perspective is critical when assessing ratings for this weekend’s “Mariah’s World” and “Rob & Chyna.”
On the one hand, the shows posted respectable numbers by typical cable standards. “Rob & Chyna” was Sunday’s #10 original in adults 18-49, while “Mariah’s World” was #13.
On the other hand, should conventional cable standards apply? “Mariah’s World” is a reality series chronicling one of the biggest stars in music history, while Sunday’s “Rob & Chyna” was the heavily hyped baby special.
It is also worth noting that both episodes were down from the series’ previous airings — at least as far as live+same-day viewership goes.
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, “Mariah’s World” drew a 0.33 adults 18-49 rating and 0.73 million total viewers. The numbers trail the 0.41 rating and 0.81 million viewer mark posted by last week’s episode.
The “Rob & Chyna” special garnered a 0.44 rating and 0.95 million total viewers. Both represent the lowest live+same-day figures posted by a “Rob & Chyna” episode (though, as a special, it will be excluded from historical averages).
Airing on October 16, the show’s previous episode (technically the season finale) drew a 0.61 rating and 1.20 million total viewers.
“Rob & Chyna” has been renewed for a second season.
— E!’s Sunday night lineup also included “The Royals” (0.21, 0.53 million this week vs. 0.31, 0.68 million last week).
