For the fifth straight week, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” fell in the live+same-day ratings.
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s “The Walking Dead” drew a 4.90 adults 18-49 rating and 10.40 million viewers. The numbers trail the 5.17 rating and 11.00 million viewer mark garnered by last week’s episode.
Make no mistake, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is still a ratings behemoth. It remains Sunday’s #1 cable program (by far) and the highest-rated drama on all of television (also by far).
But it is not as much of a behemoth — at least from a live+same-day ratings standpoint — as it was in the past few seasons.
As a point of comparison, the equivalent sixth season broadcast (episode six) drew a 6.59 rating and 12.87 million total viewers on November 15, 2016. A comparison to the year-ago episode is not especially fair since it was the 2015 fall finale, although in drawing a 7.02 rating and 13.98 million total viewers, the episode at least proved a show can perform well on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
— “The Walking Dead” led into “Talking Dead,” which drew a 1.71 rating and 3.78 million total viewers. It was actually up slightly from last week’s show, which garnered a 1.69 and 3.74 million.
