This year’s Thanksgiving was an eventful one for the “This Is Us” characters. Olivia finally eased her tough exterior and spent Thanksgiving with Kevin and his family. Kevin let his stepfather wear the “Pilgrim Rick” hat — an honor that previously belonged to his actual father Jack (and now to him and his brother Randall). Kate broke up with Toby and, following a scare on a flight, made the decision to get gastric bypass surgery.
Randall, meanwhile, learned the devastating truth that his mother and his biological father knew each other throughout his life.
Fittingly called “The Trip,” next week’s episode finds Kate, Kevin, and Randall dealing with the events by heading to a family cabin.
Other episode storylines include Olivia speaking a “harsh truth” to Kate that affects her relationship with Kevin, and a flashback to when a young Randall told Jack and Rebecca that he was looking for his birth parents.
“Kate, Kevin and Randall head to their family’s cabin to get away after their chaotic family Thanksgiving. A very angry Randall finds comfort and explanation from his father, Jack. Olivia speaks a harsh truth to Kate, which drives a wedge between Kate and Kevin. Rebecca and Jack struggle with what to do when 9-year-old Randall tells them that he’s been looking for his birth parents,” says NBC’s official synopsis.
The episode airs at 9PM ET on 11/29. In advance of the broadcast, NBC shared first-look photos:
