Update 2: For FOX’s Teen Choice 2016 broadcast, final Sunday ratings data paints an even less flattering picture than the fast nationals.
According to data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s awards show drew a paltry 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and 1.66 million total viewers.
The dismal numbers trail the already-soft 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.57 million viewer mark drawn by the 2015 show.

Update: New data supports what was revealed by the overnight household ratings: the 2016 Teen Choice Awards ceremony drew a substantially smaller audience than the past few editions (which were themselves low-rated broadcasts).
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, FOX’s Teen Choice 2016 broadcast averaged a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating and 1.84 million total viewers (0.5 adults 18-49 rating and 1.70 million total viewers in the 8PM hour; 0.6 rating and 1.98 million viewers in the 9PM hour).
The previous three Teen Choice ceremonies each averaged a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating from 8-10PM. The 2015 show drew 2.57 million total viewers, while the 2014 and 2013 shows drew 2.64 million and 2.62 million, respectively.

The past few Teen Choice Awards ceremonies were rather low-rated affairs.
Based on its overnight rating, the 2016 edition may have drawn an even smaller audience.
According to metered market data posted by Programming Insider, Sunday’s Teen Choice 2016 broadcast drew a mere 1.2 overnight household rating. Last year’s show drew a 1.7.
The 1.7 household rating preceded a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and a 2.57 live+same-day viewership sum.
The 2014 edition performed similarly, posting a 1.6 in the overnight households, a 0.8 in adults 18-49 and 2.64 million in total viewership. The 2013 show drew a stronger 2.0 overnight household rating but comparable marks of 0.8 in adults 18-49 and 2.62 million in total viewership.
Hosted by Victoria Justice and John Cena, the 2016 show featured performances by Charlie Puth, Serayah, Flo Rida, Ne-Yo, and Jason Derulo. Justin Timberlake, arguably the show’s only marquee draw, received the Decade Award.
Last year’s show featured hosts Josh Peck, Gina Rodriguez and Ludacris, performers 5 Seconds Of Summer, Little Mix, Rachel Platten, Flo Rida & Robin Thicke, and Jussie Smollett & Yazz, and Britney Spears as the Candie’s style icon winner.
The 2014 show featured hosts Sarah Hyland and Tyler Posey, performers Demi Lovato & Cher Lloyd, MAGIC!, Rixton, Becky G, and Jason Derulo, and Selena Gomez as the ultimate choice award winner.
Lucy Hale and Darren Criss hosted a 2013 show that featured performances by One Direction, Florida Georgia Line, Demi Lovato & Nick Jonas, and Paramore.
