Chevelle’s “Joyride” dethrones Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” on this week’s Mediabase active rock airplay chart.

Up one place, the Chevelle song takes #1 on the strength of its ~1,958 tracking week spins (+61). “Dark Necessities,” which was played ~1,864 times during the July 24-30 tracking period (-88), dips to #2.

The Top 5 is otherwise as it was last week. Shinedown’s “Asking For It” holds at #3 with ~1,828 spins (-48), while Volbeat’s former #1 “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” stays at #4 courtesy a spin count of ~1,566 (-226).

Played ~1,360 times during the official tracking week (+47), Pop Evil’s “Take It All” is stationary at #5.
