Earlier this year, news broke that CBS Television Studios was shopping a “Carpool Karaoke” series.
The series has found its home — and it is not a television network.
In a Tuesday morning press release, CBS confirms that the series will air via an exclusive, first-window agreement with Apple Music.
“Each week, a new episode will become available exclusively to Apple Music subscribers in more than 100 countries,” says CBS.
Sixteen episodes will be produced as part of the first season. The premiere date has not yet been announced.
“In each episode, celebrities will ride along and sing along with the host (to be announced) as they visit places meaningful to the celebrity, sing tunes from their personal playlists and surprise fans who don’t expect to see big stars belting out tunes one lane over,” adds CBS.
The “Carpool Karaoke” series is an extension of the popular “Late Late Show With James Corden” segment. Corden is on board as an executive producer, but he will not host the weekly series. He will, however, continue to feature (and host) “Carpool Karaoke” segments on “Late Late.”
