While Thomas Rhett’s country radio smash “Die A Happy Man” has been receiving a crossover push at hot adult contemporary since late last year, Republic Records had refrained from confirming an impact date for the pop format.
That changed Monday, when Republic announced that Rhett’s hit would be going for pop radio adds on April 26.
The news comes as a version of “Die A Happy Man” is already charting at the pop format. Nelly’s cover, which was released earlier this year, is currently #32 on the Mediabase airplay chart.
Republic is nonetheless confident that pop radio will be able to make room for the original, which spent six weeks atop the Billboard Country Airplay chart and seventeen weeks atop the all-encompassing Billboard Hot Country Songs listing.
“Die A Happy Man” is currently #22 on the Mediabase Hot AC chart.
