A testament to the strength of his work on the smash “Thinking Out Loud,” Ed Sheeran earned the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance.

The trophy was distributed during the pre-show for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.

Sheeran’s turn on “Thinking Out Loud” beat out performances from Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, Kelly Clarkson, and The Weeknd.

— The corresponding Pop Duo/Group trophy went to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for their work on “Uptown Funk.”

Their effort won over performances from Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Florence + The Machine, and Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth.
