Like Dustin Lynch’s “Where It’s At,” Sam Hunt’s “Leave The Night On,” A Thousand Horses’ “Smoke,” Michael Ray’s “Kiss You In The Morning,” Chris Janson’s “Buy Me A Boat,” and Cam’s “Burning House,” Granger Smith’s “Backroad Song” was an iHeartRadio “On The Verge” selection at country radio.
Following in the footsteps of those songs, it reaches #1 on the Mediabase country airplay chart.
“Backroad Song” seizes the throne from Luke Bryan’s “Home Alone Tonight (featuring Karen Fairchild),” which slips to 2 after two weeks on top.
In addition to leading in Mediabase chart points, “Backroad Song” was the Mediabase country panel’s most-heard song during the February 7-13 tracking week. It received a format-leading 63.871 million audience impressions during the official tracking week.
The aforementioned “Home Alone Tonight,” however, remained the format’s most-played song. Its weekly spin count of ~8,831 (+90) narrowly tops the ~8,768 (+752) amassed by “Backroad Song.”
Up one place, Kelsea Ballerini’s “Dibs” follows at #3 on the Mediabase chart. Carrie Underwood’s “Heartbeat” leaps three places to #4, while Randy Houser’s “We Went” holds at #5.
