Final data for the December 4-10 tracking week is now available, and it confirms a six-figure sales total for G-Eazy’s “When It’s Dark Out.”
According to Nielsen Music, the album sold 103,000 pure US copies during its first week of release. The tally falls right in the middle of initial industry expectations, which called for a bow in the 95-110,000 range.
It, meanwhile, reflects significant album-to-album growth from his 2014 release “These Things Happen,” which sold 47,000 copies in its first week.
With Track Equivalent Albums (track sales/10) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (track streams/1500) added to its sales total, “When It’s Dark Out” generated 132,000 consumption units during its first week of release. The count positions G-Eazy’s album at #5 on the consumption-oriented Billboard 200.
— “When It’s Dark Out” was one of two high-profile hip-hop albums to enter the market during the 12/4-10 tracking week. Rick Ross’ “Black Market,” the other, sold 54,000 US copies during its first week of release.
With the addition of TEA and SEA, it drove 65,000 in first-week consumption. It takes #6 on the Billboard 200.
