Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” Sold 131K Weekly Copies; Timberlake’s “Drink” Moved 76K

In addition to making a splash on the Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts, Chris Stapleton also makes a major impact on the Billboard Digital Songs chart.

According to Nielsen Music, Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” sold 131,206 copies during the October 30-November 5 tracking week. The tally earns “Whiskey” the #2 position on Digital Songs; only Adele’s “Hello” sold more during the official tracking week.

Nearly all of the sales were generated following Stapleton and Justin Timberlake’s CMA Awards performance, which took place on the evening of November 4.

Justin Timberlake’s “Drink You Away,” which was also featured during the collaborative performance with Stapleton, also had a big sales week. Per Nielsen Music, “Drink You Away” takes #6 on Digital Songs courtesy a weekly sales total of 76,000. It, too, generated the overwhelming majority of its sales following the performance.

“Traveller,” the title track from Stapleton’s chart-topping album, sold 25,000 copies during the official tracking week. A host of other Stapleton singles also generated meaningful tracking week sales activity.
