Report: Adele’s “Hello” Broke Opening Day Sales Record, Sold 400K+ US Copies

Update: While Billboard paints a more conservative opening day portrait than Hits Daily Double (it says “Hello” sold 450,000 in its first two days, which would suggest it sold far fewer than 400,000 copies on day one), it still projects “Hello” to challenge for the weekly US digital single sales record.

The lead single from Adele’s “25” reportedly broke the opening day US sales record.

Per Hits Daily Double, Adele’s “Hello” sold over 400,000 digital US copies during its October 23 release day. That easily ranks as the greatest single-day digital tally ever. It also positions “Hello” to break the 636,000 single-week record held by Flo Rida’s “Right Round.”

While data has not yet been tabulated, reports indicate “Hello” will also break the single-day streaming record. Vevo has already confirmed that it broke the single-day music video viewership record.

Adele’s entire “25” album is also performing well. Pre-order sales for the album crossed 100,000 on day one.
