Earlier this summer, singer-songwriter Kaya Stewart revealed that she was in love with a boy.
Later this month, she will tell a significant other that it is time to split.
“Let’s Split” is scheduled to officially impact pop radio as Stewart’s second single.
Cut from Stewart’s debut EP “In Love with a Boy,” “Let’s Split” currently carries a radio adds date of August 25. While such dates are always tentative, the song is definitely slated as her new single — it was showcased at last week’s iHeartMedia Music Summit.
Upon impacting pop radio on June 16, the title track from Stewart’s EP received adds from a whopping 85 Mediabase-monitored stations. That count set an all-time record for a debut artist.
While the song leveraged the support to quickly climb the pop airplay chart, it ran out of steam once it reached the Top 30. It will be beneath the Top 40 by the time this week’s airplay chart goes to print.
“Let’s Split” will not elicit the same initial enthusiasm as “In Love with a Boy,” but she and label Warner Bros. Records are hoping it can establish a more lasting presence at the pop format.
