Canaan Smith’s “Love You Like That” Officially Goes #1 at Country Radio

Thanks to what easily ranks as the format’s greatest weekly airplay gain, Canaan Smith’s “Love You Like That” surges to #1 on the Mediabase country radio singles chart.

“Love You Like That,” which was #4 on last week’s chart, seizes the throne from Blake Shelton’s “Sangria.” Shelton’s 20th career #1 slips to #3 this week, while Jason Aldean’s “Tonight Looks Good on You” holds at #2.

Not simply the leader in Mediabase chart points, “Love You Like That” also ranks as the Mediabase panel’s most played country song. It received 8,254 spins during the July 5-11 tracking week..

That count bests last week’s mark by a 1,421. A staggering gain, it reflects an even stronger last-minute push than that afforded to Kelsea Ballerini’s recent #1 “Love Me Like You Mean It”

Ballerini’s breakthrough single enjoyed a gain of 975 spins for its week at #1.

The victor in chart points and spins, “Love You Like That” did not, however, reach the week’s largest audience. That honor instead goes to Aldean’s “Tonight” (57.862 million impressions vs. 56.876 million), which may best Smith’s tune on this week’s audience-driven Billboard Country Airplay chart.

As far as Mediabase goes, Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” (#4) and Brantley Gilbert’s “One Hell of an Amen” (#5) join “Love You Like That,” “Tonight Looks Good on You” and “Sangria” in the Top 5.
